Whenever instagram launches a new feature (content category), it rewards those who use that feature with high organic reach to encourage users to post more in that category, like it did in 2016 with Stories. Now the same thing is happening with Reels.
Reels are short video clips similar to TikTok videos which gives you an opportunity to get creative and create engaging content.
Sharing Reels to both feed and the Reels page is a great way to gain organic reach that goes beyond your existing followers.
Tip #2 Collaborate with other brands and creators
Collaboration is a great way for businesses to deepen and spread brand roots. By collaborating with other brands and creators who are relevant to your brand you are able to gain a new audience.
This can be as simple as doing a photoshoot with a photographer or influencer.
This strategy has also been widely used by many successful direct to consumer as well as traditionals brands.
Tip #3 Make sure to have good post hygiene
- Learn how to create good quality content and remember your audience decides what high quality means.
- Use location tag
- Use as many, relevant hashtags that you can. It is recommended to not use more than 30 hashtags.
- Tag other pages relevant to your post
- Write a good caption
Tip #4 Explore and engage with other pages
Keep your page more active than just posting content and engaging with your own audience on the platform. Go beyond your page!
This might be time consuming but it is highly effective for both gaining followers and building a brand to look at what other pages are posting and leave a like and comment on their post.
Look for relevant hashtags in your niche, have a look at both Recent and Top posts, find posts that you like or find interesting, leave a like and a nice relevant comment.
Tip #5 Connect digital with physical
Make sure you have done everything you can to turn customers to followers.
- If you have a physical store you should remind visitors that they can follow you on social media. You can do this by having your social media address displayed at different touch points at your store, such as the cashier, waiting area and changing rooms.
- If you are selling products online, you can have your social media page inside your packaging. It is smart to use QR code for better and easier experience.
- If you send confirmation email for purchase or online booking you can display social media links at the bottom of your email.
Tip #6 Drive traffic from other channels and pages
Depending on your social media marketing goals you can use other social media platforms such as TikTok, Pinterest, Reddit or Twitter to drive traffic to your intagram page.

Instagram is not a non-profit, it’s a business and they are trying to make more money like any other business. As the number of their users grow they are dropping their organic reach to encourage users to promote their content to have the same reach as it had a few years ago.
Promoting your content is an effective way to reach more people and grow your instagram page. Make sure that you define your audience well before promoting the post. Choose the right demographic, by being specific about your audiences interests, gender, where they live and etc.
